No real content to this post from me, but this post from AR touched the same part of my brain as the end of the Marathon series. The line "Skin too thick to be sure" seemed reminiscent of the way I imagined Marathon's hero, his "skin" being his armour. It also reminded me a bit of the Cortana letters, her reference to her "hybrid war machine" (I always assumed this was the MC, myself).

"Beating at the heart of the Universe" made me think of the Marathon hero's role in the big picture as revealed in the final screen on Infinity (that is, the university seemed to resolve around him).

This should probably have been posted under Speculation, but what the hey

What purpose would it serve?

I repeat, the sounds are embedded into the loop of the vent sound. It will loop at EXACTLY the same speed every time, and it will sound exactly the same every time.

Remember on the Society of Ancients web page: lex parsimoniae. Perhaps this is an indication that we shouldn't try to over-analyze.

Maybe the message regarding the pulse is to be taken quite literally; simply an indication of the new pulse sound exhibited while within the server. It is, after all, indicating for us to listen for the pulse. Seems to me that AR(?) wants us to pay particular attention to server 1(5) for some reason...

It's more likely to draw attention if they see a new topic made by AR. With all the random crap people sya in there, if he kept to the one topic, things might get buried beneath mountains of useless postings.
