Fellow user Dracabryne has made an interesting discovery I don't think is getting enough attention. Check out his post here:

To summarize: The countdown clock on 206.16.223.65 appears to be marking time until a deep-space transmission is sent, possibly from the artifact. On the solstice.
What is it going to be transmitting?

Re: Vio Transmit—Purpose of the Countdown
That IS the question, indeed. Most of us (including me) seem to think it will in fact be an unlocking of more infomration on halo3.com, or SOTA.co, which could be taken as transmitted data. But I do wonder if there's more to it.
Re: Vio Transmit—Purpose of the Countdown
I'm going to agree with the guy above me in saying that it is probably going to be more information.
Re: Vio Transmit—Purpose of the Countdown
and to add to that, the text has changed again as stated in another topic, it now says
"/confirm bounce alignment/
Confirmed - Alignment Request Compiling
Hibernation Resumed"
Bounce alignment? like the direction the message needs to be sent? maybe?

Re: Vio Transmit—Purpose of the Countdown
Possibly, or the location the transmission needs to be bounced from (like a satellite) to get it where it's supposed to go.
