What/who is IRIS

Unread post by REDSLATE »

To me, "iris" sounds much like "virus". Perhaps through the years, the name has been misinterpruted, forgotten, translated incorrectly, or something to that effect. It would make sense, if Adjutant Reflex is a computer program/AI, and a virus attacked it.

An interesting idea, but why would AR accept Iris? Especially if we have the word virus as well...

Iris is probably the thing that is going to be launched into space soon, to allow mobile communications (internet) for US troops in Iraq. It was in the news in April

I dont know much about Halo but maybe it could have some relevance.

Oh wow, I don't know how "real" they want this ARG, but that would kind of make sense. Maybe that's how AR is getting to us from wherever in space it is...

You sure AR isn't in the forerunner installation left behind? And that IRIS doesn't stand for * * * System? or Service? That perhaps AR is an AI bringing online the IRIS system?

In how many ways can we spell out IRIS?

Interim Reclaimer Interface System
Initial Response Integration System
Isolated Redundant Index Storage

With dozens of people here why don't we each give it a shot and see if something meaningful comes out?

P.S. Mods, does this belong into speculation? I'm not sure. If so, could you break out this post and move it?

Over at the Compound Intelligence group at b.net some of us have adopted the theory that it's the 7 Iris asteroid (check wikipedia). Maybe a long abandoned, frozen Forerunner space craft?

Isn't Iris just the name of the ARG? Isn't it named so because we're going to learn things about the Halo universe from it? Need it be anything more?
