Re: Gravemind taught (or was formed by) the Covenant?

I just reread the story the other day. It seems some of the Flood used a Covenant dropship to escape the Halo and land on the Infinite Succor. Initially the Covenant believe the invasion problem on that ship is human in nature, possibly due to "the demon (aka MC)." Upon investigation, they find the Flood organisms taking over the ship. The Flood intelligence that grows out of this may or may not be Gravemind as we meet him/her/it in the Delta Halo.
It's been noted in Staten's comments on the story pages of halo.bungie.org that once the Flood reach a certain volume (capacity?), the develop a large, centralized intelligence. If there were enough Flood on the Infinite Succor, who's to say the intelligence formed there wasn't different than, but in some ways equal to, Gravemind?

From Halo3.com > Characters > Gravemind
When the virulent Flood organism reaches a
certain critical mass, it develops a centralized
intelligence, which calls itself Gravemind. This
is the Flood personified, and it carries with it
the genetic memory of millenia of slumber.
It doesn't have to "escape", as if it is destroyed it redevelops, with the same genetic memory, and it is ALWAYS Gravemind.

It would seem to me like the OP's image means "Danger: Flood Infection Forms Present," or something to that effect. Just my two cents on the matter.

No, the gravemind hates the covenant too much, and he knows too much more than them. I think the covenant's only prior knowledge of the flood came from interpreted forerunner objects (including, maybe, the halos and when they were discovered) and legend (until they released it on alpha halo).

Thanks for the declaration. ;)

So this means there can be many different Graveminds if there are many large, separate Flood outbreaks...
