I still think it's something to do with the moon, the moon has been an important thing since Halo 2, the cut level that took place there as well as all the theories on the importance of the lunar phase and such during Halo 2.

Are those really continents, or just noise? Notice how they're different between the 2 channels, but the symbol is the same?

There are 13 spokes, which is how many ppl saw in the E3 trailer, which showed the Ark opening. Also, with 13 spokes, you can't evenly alternate between spokes with circles and plain spokes (circle, line, circle, line, etc...).
Also, they look like continents, the same ones from the Language Select screen before you enter the corridor where the server is floating.
