I reccomend that you use X-Chat Aqua (free) or use Snak (free trial-then pay). I was an X-Chat user for a long time and it mirrors mIRC in almost all its command uses so if you know what you're doing in there, you're totally set with X-Chat.

If your being prompted to go to which server, just type IRC and that'll connect you into the channel.

This channel requires that you have registered and identified yourself with the network's nickname registration services (e.g. NickServ). Please see the documentation of this network's nickname registration services that should be found in the MOTD (/motd to display it).
I'm in chan, but its voice only. Any specific ways of getting voiced so one can actually talk? I understand that there is a need/desire to keep out the drivel, but how can I actually do any participating if I can't be seen in chan?
