The "Vic Incident"

Leads that wound up being lost causes, having nothing to do with the ARG. Also, for threads discussing what turned out to be hoaxes.

Ok so my recording didn't work. But I posted over on UnFiction that we can organize our thoughts and such in the IRC channel #Halo3ARG over on EFNet. I'll be there under the nick MDAmp.

I need to download that recording and mess with it a bit.

Edit: That #343 number exists, but I am doubtful about calling it. What do I say if it isn't part of the game? "Sorry, I thought you were a computer."?

"Oh, sorry, I must have the wrong number."

I mean, what does # mean for a phone, cause if it means something important I'd be doubtful towards calling it.

I meant that as whatever number came before 343.

Someone coax me into calling, I don't want this to be for naught.

616 is my area code too. Where was this number found? Is it some fan just jerking us around? How do we know this is legit?

So it was recorded right off the episode onto a cell phone voicemail.

Sounds amateur.

Glory is for the bold! Call the number, cause you know it'll bug you if you don't or no one else will.

The first number was found in a related XBL tag. The second one I tried was invalid. The third one, similar to the first, is derived from the time AR posted his last response.

Edit: Yeah, someone called who was in the IRC chat. Some person answered so he said wrong number and hung up.

I think it's time to put a "hoax'd" up then.
The inclusion of Vic was dubios at best, but to find its recorded off an episode is pretty convincing disproof.

Well, I dunno. The XBL tag itself seems fairly legit. I mean, what Gamertag do you know that isn't part of some MS scheme that can disappear and leave behind an alphanumerical code like that?

What tag? How can we see this for ourselves? Maybe it will help get some clues.
