Post subject:  Flood Containment Control Theories

This new flurry of activity regarding the "Flood Containment Control" got me thinking about what these two mystery men are talking about specifically.

Quote:
Male voice 1 (clear): ...is necessary, and neither is the doc download.

Male voice 2 (clear): I agree. This isn't going to be a public resource. Uh, pass on the document number so I can delete it.

(Pause, 3 seconds)

Male voice 1 (clear): There's no way to tell yet, but ("Jamie" or "Jimmy")'s looking into the records to find out how many closed sites there are, but as for active clean up, somewhere around three, four thousand?

(Brief Pause)

Oh here it is. Uh, Hold on. Four-oh-two, K, zero-seven-zero-zero-two. And in terms of numbers most of these are past the PPE stage.

Okay, a couple separate pieces of analysis here. This isn't going to be a public resource. Okay, so we've got some sort of cover-up from the public. Obvious I know, but it means these guys are not just our average mold removal specialists.

The other interesting note I came across was in the initials PPE, or as a quick Wikipedia search for these initials turned up, Personal Protective Equipment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_protective_equipment. This is, and I quote,
Quote:
protective clothing, helmets, goggles, or other gear designed to protect the wearer's body or clothing from injury by electrical hazards, heat, chemicals, and infection...Personal armor is combat-specialized protective gear.
If this is what PPE stands for, then what does it mean if most of these "active clean-up" sites are past that stage of simple goggles and gloves?

I suppose this is just rampant speculation, but could the Flood potentially be contained somehow on Earth?

Feel free to discuss, debunk, debate, or bring up entirely different thoughts on this new development (if it holds up and isn't a hoax).

If we are positive that the conversation is saying "PPE stage" we should begin brainstorming, Googleing, Wiki'ing and collecting possible meanings of "PPE"...

Pre-Primary Education
Public-Practice Examination
Post-Project Evaluation

...others? Again, brainstorm, don't judge them just yet...

Right, PPE could mean any of those things. For the purposes of my idea, it was Personal Protective Equipment (which one would hope is necessary when cleaning up biological hazards). But it could be one of those as well.

I just googled "PPE flood" (w/o quotes) and got a load of relevant hits... and by "relevant", I mean relating to actual floods, the water kind, not the intergalactic viral parasite zombie kind, and mostly about Hurricane Katrina... but relevant nonetheless, if this is going to turn into a "government cover-up conspiracy" plot ARG. They would use the same terms...

Man 1: By the time we have the site clean, they've moved on to more pressing needs. After all, we've had some extremely unpredictable seasons lately.

I wonder if "the Center" referred to in the recording is the Center for Disease Control. And if so, who is the group referred to by "we" in the same sentence? That seems to fit the gov't cover-up thing.

Anyways, I think you are correct on your speculation of PPE.
[/brainstorming]

As someone who works in the health care field, I use PPE every day. (I'm an EMT, so I'm usually first on the scene and usually get to deal with the nasty stuff) and I can almost guarantee that PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment. It can be anything from an N-95 respirator (to prevent contraction of tuberculosis) to goggles to gloves (both latex and thicker surgical gloves) to anything as impressive as a full-body NBC suit. If they were talking about PPE and clearing "sites" that sounds an awful lot like the terminology we use in reference to viral outbreaks/epidemics/chemical spills and radiation exposure...
