Meanings of "MB"

Unread post by thebruce »

So here's the thing - there's got be significance of the repeated sppearance of "MB"

* MB05032 in the avatar filename
* The BPC audio for server 5 is named MB_05.mp3
* A Server 5 text file is named MB05032.txt

MB could be "NAR"s initials.
5032 reduces to denominators 2, 2, 2, 17, 37 - no power of 7 as typical of monitor numbers.

And I doubt MB stands for MacBeth :P

Has there been any instance of two words starting with M and B in any of the texts we've received?

The significance of MB05032 is, indeeed, a excerpt from Macbeth. It means Macbeth Scene 5 Line 32, or something like that.

but the instance of MB_5 indicates MB isn't exclusively tied to 05032 (and the MacBeth connection is speculative at best)

MB has appeared on its own now, in relation to 'NAR'... so what's its significance?

(and I intentionally made a new thread to keep the name discussion separate from the MB05032.txt file discussion from server 5)

All we can really do for now is speculate to its meaning.

And this would be an excellent thread in which to do that speculating.

Edit: Monitor Broadcast? :) What with the "Bounce Path Control" and "transmission" references... If OAR/NAR/JARJAR is communicating with us from within the Ark, maybe it is—naming convention inconsistencies notwithstanding—the Monitor of the Ark.

The meaning probably has some siritual significance to NAR because he has used it since he killed OAR.

Just a clarification on the MacBeth connection, it would have to be Act _ , Scene _ , Line _ .

Assuming this, it would be most likely be Act 5, Scene 3, Line 2. Sketchy at best. :)

Yes, thank you Bambi... see, it IS possible for your first post in a forum to not be useless drivel. Nice work! I applaud you!

And if it were Act 5, Scene 3, Line 2, why put the 0's in the name? Not logical, not MacBeth.

Edit: added link to MacBeth, and although there are no line numbers the first 10 lines have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING.

Source Wikipedia

A megabase (Mb) is a unit of length for DNA fragments, equal to 1 million nucleotides. One megabase is roughly equivalent to one centimorgan (cM) or 1 million base pairs (bps).
It's a stretch...maybe?

There is some meaning in "Till Birnam wood remove to Dunsinane"(Line 2) I don't remember the specifics, but it is referring to the movement of forces into position for the final conflict in Macbeth. I believe the character is saying something to the effect of "when pigs fly", but Shakespeare is definately using his odd sense of humour to add extra meaning.
