New theory Flood creation theory

Would like your input on my theory.
Its pretty simple.
The forerunners created AI which in turn created the flood.

I think it is the doing of a rampant AI.
Motivation of AI.
The AI wanted LIFE it wanted to LIVE.
The AI wanted to expand it network.
wanted more proccessing power than any available computer or network could give it.

I think that this AI was able to create and transfer itself into the gravemind.
(clueless as to how )

This just seems to make sense to me. The gravemind would still represents our sins. And fits the antithesis to life better than the flood I think.
So what do you guys think?

sounds like the Durandal is flood theory. Which is entirely plausible, but has 0 evidence

Yeah and delectabletangent, or whatever that floating flame of a robots name is, can teleport. Light from a galaxy takes light years to reach visibility, which in turn means that we see whats there years ago, millions. So if thou can telporteth, thou can time travel.
p.s.

Guess who wont be in halo three, durandel.

Forgive my stupidity, I have a degree but it's in the arts and I haven't taken math or science since grade 11, so I'm not sure I'm following this. Are you claiming that the ability to teleport can actually move you through time? This seems to be the logical equivalant of the following:

I take off from Airport A where it is 2am on August 13. I land in Airport B where it is 10pm on August 12, due to timezone differences. Because I am travelling faster than the rotation of the Earth, when I left it was the 13th, but where I am the 13th hasn't happened yet (by our definitions of time). Therefore I went back in time?

This doesn't seem to make sense. If I could teleport 50 light years away and (hypothetically) blow up a star, and then teleport back to Earth instantly, I haven't travelled through time, only space. Though Earth won't be aware of what I've done until the light of the star no longer reaches Earth, it was still done at a particular moment in time. Awareness doesn't equal time.

I just don't see how you're claiming Penitent Tangent can travel through time.

You didn't go back in time. *prepares for time and perception sing and dance....*

Time on Earth is always at a set rate because we're all moving at close to the same speed around the center of gravity and the sun. Now, if you were to go to Alpha Centauri at 3/4 the speed of light, you would actually experience time slower. Some crazy thing called time dilation happens in space at relativistic (below light speed) speeds in space, time bends based on how you're moving. Also, let's just be reminded that our idea of time is simply an order of events for our minds to comprehend and is pretty much based on our perception, since time isn't constant.

Teleporting would go above relativistic speeds and (hopefully!, because we don't really know if it...) avoids time dilation, getting you somewhere in the same amount of time as had past at your source and destination and not forward in time to the perciever.

Spark Notes Version of above: No time travel with Penitent, sorry.

I deserve a cookie for that..... :D

Hehe, the conclusion I was trying to get at, but you made it much nicer. So here you go.

Excellent explaination(above), but it's a scary thought to even imagine all this being touched on in Halo 3... Though I support whatever time-travel theory there might be. :P

yep, durandel won't be in Halo 3. But I bet Durandal will be. :/

I'm curious about that fact myself. Especially considering the information released/leaked regarding the terminals hidden through the campaign and that the related medal/achievement is named "Marathon Man". Though, the medal name could just be using the terminals as a reference point between the two series/universes.

I bet it's just a reference to Marathon... Kinda like how you can find the Marathon symbol everywhere. Hasn't Bungie said that the Marathon and Halo storylines are two completely different things? I very HIGHLY doubt that we will see ANY connection between the two games. We will see references made to Marathon, but we WONT see Durandal or any other character from Marathon make a serious appearance in Halo 3 (they may do a cameo, however, which is still different from what can be considered a canonical appearance).
