Re: Created Some Maps
The location of the E3 movie could be in that large plain between mombassa and Voi. The cliffs are just from covenant excavation. This could make sense because the other suggested sites seemed too small for this miles-wide structure.

We do not know that it is the ark, we only know that it is a forerunner structure.
We do not know that the ark is on earth, it has only ever been mentioned by 343.
If you read "Ghosts of Onyx" At the end they come across a similarly descriptive structure on Onyx which opens and closes in a similar fashion as the one in the Announcement trailer."The rings on the hill's outer and inner slopes had continues to flatten, and the fin towers had tilted and angled inward. The entire structure was closing like the petal of a great flower"p.353.Inside it is described as a haven.
Could be that that stucture on earth is a sheild world. Dont rule anything out or confirm to yourself anything.

Differences abound however. That room was in the center of the planet, and the description of how the mechanism worked, what size it was, were all different. An interesting connection however...we were told that the artifact in the sand is about 3 km across, and if I remember correctly there is a room that they go in on Onyx that is also about 3 km across, I think it's the room with all the platforms where the hunters get shot.kungfudude wrote:We do not know that it is the ark, we only know that it is a forerunner structure.

Has anyone considered that AR is the monitor of another installation, instead of the ark? (This is based on his dismissal of the "ark" location.)bovine politics wrote:I know.Sir Topham Hat wrote:There was a track titled Road to Voi on the Halo 2 Vol 2 Soundtrack, and it was near the end. Plus Voi is near Mt Killimanjaro which we know is in the background of the announce trailer. We know it's near that area.
And bovine, what happened was that someone said "I know about Voi." And AR replied with a set of coordinates.
3:22:44S (-3.3788)
38:34:07E (38.5687)
Shortly after AR reposted saying, "Unit CorvetteHalo3's specified location has no specific significance. Investigation of that location proved fruitless. Considering other information from this thread. Signal to noise ratio is not optimum."
AR is operating in this time, but in the Halo universe.
In 2007, no one has the slightest clue that the Ark is buried under Voi. Therefore, nothing can be found in humanities databanks about it. And since he doesn't know it's exact location, it is dismissed as irrelevant.

We don't think he's a monitor at all because of the discrepancy in their names. AdjutantReflex doesn't mean anything close to Guilty Spark or Penitent Tangent.

Doesn't this mean that the Ark is not in Voi. Also because during the announcement trailer we see the structure erupt into light, but Bungie stated that this was about half way through the game. So does this mean the structure from the trailer some sort of dummy Ark or a beacon of some sort?

I understand the difference, but was thinking that the difference could be marked up to the fact that both Guilty Spark and Penitent Tangent both did something "bad". GS fired the halo system, and PT was captured and interrogated by the gravemind.Sir Topham Hat wrote:We don't think he's a monitor at all because of the discrepancy in their names. Perhaps the monitors give themselves their "names" based upon their individual experiences?
Why in the world do monitors need names? (Rhetorical question, but worth exploring.)

Great point! We've also been told that the fight begins on earth, but is taken to another distant locale. I think that there are 2 possibilities:cboy945 wrote:"Unit CorvetteHalo3's specified location has no specific significance. Investigation of that location proved fruitless. 1) The structure at Voi is NOT the ark. It is a "map room" of sorts, that directs us to the ark, where we will finish the fight.
2) The structure at Voi IS the ark, it gets activated, and we have to travel to at least one Halo to prevent the structure from firing. The rest of the Halos may fire, but we disable the one closest to our solar system, or to one of the covenant's homeworlds (not the methane filled grunt world!) so that humanity (and possibly some of the covenant races) may survive.

Doesn't really make sense for two monitors on completely different facilities, lightyears apart, to have such curiously similar names, does it?MR2NoShoes wrote:I understand the difference, but was thinking that the difference could be marked up to the fact that both Guilty Spark and Penitent Tangent both did something "bad".
