Avery is the guy in the movie, and was hired to distribute fliers. That is how he was able to post the url on his blog before anyone could have known about it. He is part of the ARG. But he is not a character, nor is he of much other use to us. His job was to hand out fliers in Vancouver. That's it....

It demonstrates that he's a hired extra who decided to (not so cleverly) blur his real life with the ARG he was hired for.

By posting information about the SOTA on his blog, he attracted attention to himself as a self-promotion. Not too bright when dealing with an ARG group.

No, that would have been whoever found the Halo 3 Comic link from the ad in the Sunday paper... for this coming Sunday. That link is what got us to the Log site... which is how we found the SotA... which is supposedly how we figure out what we're doing with teh Log page. It's a loop of backwardsness!
