Re: Weekly Update Message? [General Discussion]

Well maybe we just never went to parts of the ring that had population centers. Remember how, from above, the Ark looked like it had streets or something? But we never saw that in the game. Maybe they kept Halo cities away from the Flood for obvious reasons. Well... the Ark is... the Ark. It was me...

Re: Weekly Update Message? [General Discussion]

There'd be a number of reasons against such thinking though. Why would they bring something as dangerous as the flood to a population center for study? That would imply they didn't know what they were dealing with. More random assumptions. Pffht..I'm done. :| This type of discussion probably belong...

Re: Weekly Update Message? [General Discussion]

That makes approximately 287 years since there was a reported "CONTAINMENT FAILURE" at Installation 05 to the point where we seemingly set foot on the Installation. (The year) 2552 minus 287 (years) equals (the year) 2265. Unfortunately, the Halo Story Page's Timeline on HBO has nothing r...

Re: Log5_Transcript General Discussion

Sorry to step in here, but this has been nagging at me in my mind. Is the transcript from server 1 erroneously named Log5_Transcript or is the one from server 5 wrongly tagged? i.e. why are they named the same even though the first transcript is the "final entry" ?

Re: StarImage3 Update

That's mainly what I was getting at with multiple black holes. If you take a system of normal quartz lenses, you can create virtual images and real images of the original object with some sort of magnification depending on the lens setup. And for certain distances, you won't even get an image becaus...

Re: StarImage3 Update

The only problem that I have is that black holes never really move around that much, so that could be a problem with the differences between starimages. If stars get near them, they tear apart, but elsewise they stay to themselves pretty much. I guess it depends on your frame of reference as to wha...

Re: StarImage3 Update

Correct, it doesn't have to be a blackhole. It just has to be an object or group of objects with a significant net gravitational field to bend light. Clearly it wouldn't be a galaxy doing the lensing in this case; that would place the stars we are seeing outside our own galaxy. The point about being...

Re: StarImage3 Update

Here's a comparison where only the stars that appear only once are shown. You know, this reminds me of the concept of a gravitational mirror, where for example, a black hole is in between an observer and a light source. The gravitational forces would bend the light creating a set of virtual images....
